The second annual Hitmen Ryder Cup has come to a close, and what a spectacle it was, as Team Defense once again triumphed over Team Offense, this time in a landslide victory that left little doubt as to which side reigns supreme. Yet, in such a one-sided affair, it is often not the celebrations of the victors that tell the tale, but rather the lamentations of the defeated.
"We have no chance out here," lamented Craig Fontana, an avid golfer and member of Team Offense. "We can keep this up year after year, but something’s gotta change. Maybe throwing a bison on the course would actually bring some excitement."
It seems the disillusionment extends beyond the players, as fans have expressed similar sentiments. Television ratings, a key barometer of public interest, have dipped noticeably compared to last year’s event. If the tournament organizers hope to keep this proud competition afloat, a spark of innovation may be needed to recapture the attention of the general public.
